Cattie: I am thrilled to announce the latest addition to our expert contributors: Theresa Gagnon, co-founder and co-owner of Mending Fences Animal Wellness in Deer Trail, Colorado.
I first met Theresa when she was the director for the animal programs at Bancroft School of Massage Therapy, where she also taught some of our classes. She was a wonderful teacher and has so much experience and knowledge. Over the years, she has graciously continued to give advice and answer my questions and I am so excited that she has agreed to join AWG. Theresa will be sharing her expertise in anatomy and kinesiology in both large and small animals with us. and be available to answer your questions as well.
Theresa Gagnon, CVT, BS, LMT
Theresa has over 40 years of horse experience, starting with many years of 4-H as a foundation. She didn’t leave dogs out of the equation either, as her first job was working for English Bulldog breeders. Theresa ran the boarding kennel and learned dog grooming. After spending many years in computer management in a corporate insurance setting, she found her way back to animals. She shadowed Jack Meagher and then became certified in Equine Massage and has been massaging horses since the early 1980s. Theresa earned a BS in Equine Science and then passed the National Certification Exam and obtained her Certification in Veterinary Technology. She has worked in veterinary practice and taught at the college level in a veterinary technology program at Becker College.
In 2002, Theresa became Director of Animal Programs at the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, MA. There she developed the canine and equine massage programs and ran and taught in both programs until 2009. While at Bancroft, she completed the human massage program and became licensed in 2007. She was also a founding member of NBCAAM (National Certification Board of Animal Acupressure and Massage).
Establishing Mending Fences Animal Wellness in 2009, Theresa and partner Jodi Clark have been working together doing massage and rehabilitation on the east coast and are now in Colorado.
Theresa has had articles published in several magazines and has trademarked 2 massage modalities. She has also just launched online Animal Anatomy & Physiology courses
